Campus Vision Plan

University School is an independent school for boys with two campuses in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. The Master Plan for the Lower and Middle School campus, located within a National Register Historic District of Shaker Heights, proposes a multi-phase approach to renovation and expansion, retaining the essence of the original 1926 buildings while addressing changing academic needs.

Working with information gathered from faculty, staff, and alumni in over forty focus group sessions, the Master Plan preserves the historic core of the campus, renovates selected areas of the existing buildings, and adds new library, classrooms, and commons spaces. The Plan also calls for the expansion of the existing athletic wing with a new competition swimming pool and an additional gymnasium.

A phased implementation plan provides a construction strategy and magnitude-of-cost estimates for each phase. Since approval of the Master Plan, the first two phases have been completed, and the third of five potential phases is in construction.
