Neil Stroup
AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Architect & Director of DC Office

Neil strives for a deep understanding of the clients’ needs and each project’s context — architecturally, environmentally and culturally. He relies on careful listening, collaboration, and constant curiosity to craft architecture that is thoughtfully considered and true to people and place. With over 20 years of experience as an architect, Neil Stroup has designed and delivered a variety of award-winning cultural, educational, and institutional buildings in North America. Neil brings constant curiosity to his work and a commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship, firmly rooted in a sense of place.

He led the design of a 160,000 square foot life sciences research building for the University of Toronto Mississauga, integrating the needs of multiple stakeholders and complex laboratory requirements, while carefully knitting the building into an existing heritage-listed structure. His work also includes the Foreign Affairs Security Training Center in Blackstone, Virginia. With multiple structures spread over a 1,300 acre site, the project demanded design thinking at all scales, from campus planning and circulation to building envelope and interior details.

Neil has taught architectural design studios, lectured, and has been a visiting design critic at universities in Philadelphia and Boston.
